Preliminary Agenda
There is plenty of antiquing, shopping and attractions and great food in the York area. Numerous antique shops are located throughout the York, Lancaster and Adams county area. This year's show was planned to coincide with the New Oxford Antique Show. The Antique Show opens early Saturday morning on the streets of New Oxford. Many of the shops and antique malls will also be open. Please get involved and offer your suggestions and new ideas for the convention. Ideas that have been suggested so far include allowing non-members to attend room sales for a fee after members have shopped, change the auction slightly, and charge the public a fee to view the exhibits. Highlights of the 2007 Convention SATURDAY There were at least 28 dealers involved in room sales. Some people had every square inch of their room covered with items for sale. As usual items ranged from the mundane to the unique. Walking from room to room was a treat. Not only could you find some great bargains but you could also catch up with people you might not have seen since the last convention! SUNDAY The exibitions were well attended. There were many people displaying their collections. Everything from electric mixers to clothes drying racks were displayed. There were two demonstration/lectures. One was given by Ernie Bauer on the success he has had in using new techniques to repair and restore antiques. The other was by Jeff Kroll to present the new web site. After the lectures was the famous What's It session. Our group of experts, Ernie Bauer, Jim Moffet, and Bob Kahn pooled their years of collecting experience to try to guess what a veriety of items were. Their success this year was not up to years past! Sunday evening was the banquet. After dinner we were umm, entertained, by Bob Grossman who gave us a history of the KOOKS conventions as well as bringing back a moment to remember from a past convention. See the pictures below. Following Bob's talk Jim and Phyllis Moffet once again demonstrated some of the wonderful items in their apple peeler collection. After that we all settled in for the auction. There were many great items available and some great deals were had. MONDAY The closing breakfast was followed by the regular business meeting. Dan Stein called for nominations of a new president and Shirley Juul was nominated and seconded. Dea Allen agreed to take the Treasurer spot vacated by Shirley. All the other board positions remained the same. Monday afternoon Dan and Jan Stein held an open house at their home in York. Lunch was also served for those who attended. Here are some pictures from the 2007 convention. I would like to thank Henning Juul and his wife Shirley for making these pictures available.
